An absolutely stunning perennial shade plant is Hosta Night Before Christmas. This fast growing upright Hosta has a very narrow strip of white in the center of a medium green leaf.

The leaves are long and narrow 8 inches long by 3 inches wide and lance shaped. This combination of an upright habit, the narrow white stripe, and the skinny but pointed leaves gives this plant a very sharp appearance to the plant.

If I could just pick a couple of plants this one would definitely be one that I would choose. As far as I’ve been able to determine it has no quirks that could make it a bad garden plant. It is an unpatented Hosta so it can be propagated by division and used in other parts of the garden of given to friends that take a fancy to it.

The flowers come a little early for this plant. It blooms June to July and has the normal light lavender flowers.

Hosta Night Before Christmas is a must have in the garden. It has all the best qualities that we have come to expect from good Hostas. It is attractive, long lived, easy to grow, and easy to propagate.
